High Holy Days HIGH Participant Sign-Up

This is an exciting KBI music project, sponsored by a JFO Microgrant! We are asking EVERY CONGREGANT/FAMILY to take part in a very special virtual choir video. Even if you're not a "singer", there's something for everyone in this medley of eight Rosh Hashanah favourites! ALL of them are easy to learn and sing. Cantor Green will be your personal virtual conductor, and your recording technician!

We want 100% PARTICIPATION! Check off one or more boxes for songs in which you want to take part.

To sign-up, each person (or family unit if participating in the family song) must fill out the form below. Links below will take you to the video for each song so you can check out the material in advance, to help you decide. Your confirmation email will have these links as well, so you'll be able to practice diligently on your own. You will record while watching/listening to these same videos.

There will be separate instructions for booking a recording slot at KBI (or you can record yourself at home, but we'd love to greet you at KBI to welcome you back!). There will be a firm deadline for video submissions/slots to leave enough time to edit the final virtual music video. We'll do our best to include kids who are away at summer camp.

If you have any questions, reach out to Cantor Green (613-327-3984 or cantor@kehillatbethisrael.com).

Sing well!

YOUTH PARTS
These songs are meant to be sung by a single child per recording, age 6-12. If multiple children in your household would like to participate, please fill out a separate form for each.

This is the quintessential melody for the start of the High Holy Days, sung as a "niggun" (song without words) that traditionally serves as the introduction to the "Bar'chu" call-to-prayer. https://youtu.be/MMGFmRggJUM
We ask God, the "Sovereign Who loves life" to remember us for inscription in the book of life. https://youtu.be/g1qvmYQ0LBQ
Areshet S'fateinu asks God to hear our prayers and our Shofar calls on Rosh Hashanah. https://youtu.be/Ob_gCwFwAKM
Hayom T'amtzeinu asks God to strengthen us "today"; bless us "today", hear our prayers "today", inscribe us in the Book of Life "today". https://youtu.be/kvUa0DZwrrk

FAMILY SONG
This song is meant for families with children to record together.

This 1-word song means "And [God] said". We love to sing this as a congregational "intermezzo" during long passages of cantor-sung liturgy on Rosh Hashanah. https://youtu.be/yU6aTi8_vCs

CONGREGATION PARTS
These songs are meant to be performed by individuals (ie., one person per recording). If multiple people from your household would like to participate, please sign-up with a separate copy of this form.

This beloved song asks God as "Sovereign over all the Earth" to make Israel (the Jewish People) holy. Please note the modern Hebrew stress on the word "m'kadeish". https://youtu.be/J3iV_dWdIgs

ADULT CHOIR PARTS

Choose from Soprano, Alto, Tenor, or Bass. You will only hear your part (and the Cantor's part, quietly)
