Volunteer Opportunities

Office volunteers needed!

As we approach membership renewal season, we are looking for office volunteers to help with tasks like answering phones, unlocking doors electronically and greeting and receiving visitors.

We are looking for volunteers to commit to a regular 3-hour shift every week or two weeks, as well as those who can only come in occasionally. Please email Rena at rena@kehillatbethisrael.com and indicate your availability.

Shabbat Greeters needed!

We are a welcoming Kehillah, but we also have a responsibility to keep our congregants safe. We are implementing a Shabbat Greeter program, to help with greeting and security on Shabbat and events. If you’d like to volunteer, please email Helen at president@kehillatbethisrael.com

Kehillat Beth Israel needs you!

Your Gabba’im are looking for interested individuals to chant Haftarot throughout the year. If you think you would like to participate in this very important Mitzvah, please contact either Norm Ferkin or David Lyman at gabbaim@kehillatbethisrael.com. If you feel rusty or are looking to learn – We can help!

Do you love books?

Our Malca Pass Library needs volunteers to help keep it open on Thursdays. Can you help us with a two-hour shift once a month? Benefits include great reading and an opportunity to chat with other book lovers. To volunteer please call Estelle Melzer at 613-722-0721 or e-mail estelle.melzer@gmail.com

Photographer for Youth and Family Programming

Do you have an interest in capturing the excitement and fun of our youth and family programs? All you need is a digital camera and some free time. Kehillat Beth Israel is looking for a volunteer photographer to help with taking photos at our upcoming programs (Friday before Shabbat, Saturday nights, and/or Sunday mornings/afternoons). Applicants must have access to a digital camera and transportation (programs may take place at Coldrey Avenue or at off-site locations).
